Massage, applied skillfully, is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal systen. Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build-up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stress on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.
Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage.
It is both corrective and therapeutic.
As I am sure at some time or another, we have all felt soreness, strain, bruising, tightness, pain or weakness in a muscle. This is a sign that a muscle is congested. When a muscle is congested it is not functioning at its full potential and it will hold you back in carrying out a specific task be it athletic performance or a day to day activity. A sports massage can help to decongest and improve the condition of the muscle(s) which will alleviate the symptom.
Many injuries that result in taking part in sport and exercise can be prevented or resolved if dealt with promptly.
The importance of getting the right advice and treatment is vital to ensure that injuries fully resolve and do not reoccur.
